Studio TK Introduces Havn Seating at NeoCon 2019

June 10, 2019

Studio TK today announced the launch of its Havn Seating Collection designed by Busk+Hertzog at showroom #1041 during NeoCon, June 10-12, at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago.

“The basic shape for Havn was something that we came up with during a lunch in a museum,” said Stephan Hertzog. “Using the program from the museum, we started folding the back shape of the chair and that was the starting point for the shape and the concept. Then we started drawing together directly in the computer, trying to put everything in perspective in real scale, and trying to imagine how every part and detail of Havn can be reproduced.”

“With Havn, we wanted to create a piece of furniture that, in itself, it created a space within the space, so that whenever you sat in it you immediately felt that you had your own little area of privacy,” said Flemming Busk.

Havn is a Scandinavian-inspired seating collection comprising a winged lounge chair and settee. Havn addresses the demand for increased flexibility in today’s workplace. Low-back settees and lounges provide a comfortable area for socializing, collaborative work, or casual interviews, while high-back offerings block distractions for employees as they work on tasks that require a great deal of focus. Offering ample privacy, the high-back settee also serves as an excellent alternative to conference rooms for two-person meetings.

Havn is designed around a craft aesthetic, with clean lines and a beautiful curved wooden frame. Its back is wrapped organically within the wooden frame, surrounding a soft bolster pillow for comfort. The curved wooden frame cradles the upholstered seat with a carefully crafted void in the rear that makes it visually stunning. Its clean lines and minimalist aesthetic suit the contemporary character of modern commercial interiors.

The intrinsic beauty in the Havn collection is its ability to be applied to different environments to yield different outcomes. Through the use of a closely shared visual language, Havn performs well as a collection, but as individual elements within an interior, the details and function start to shine through. The simple variation between high and low back can dramatically influence layout and use scenarios, while settee versions allow a well-crafted offering to enhance any social space.

“Over the past few years, digital capabilities have incited a transition in workplaces, decreasing the need for employees to stay in one place throughout the day. This change has ushered in open-concept offices with breakout spaces and lounge areas that are conducive to flexible work,” said Charlie Bell, President, Studio TK. “Designed to provide a comfortable and private place for employees to hold quick meetings or work individually, Havn responds to this change in work culture.”.

In addition to the Havn Seating Collection, Studio TK is also featuring at NeoCon the Clip Seating Collection by Claesson Koivisto Rune, Freehand Modular Table System by PearsonLloyd and Clique Modular Bench Collection by Mario Ruiz. Visit us at our tenth-floor showroom, #1041.
