After graduating from Industrial Design at the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona, Spain, Mario Ruiz started his independent professional career in 1995. Due to his skill and multidisciplinary experience in many diverse fields, Mario has won the confidence of more than 120 leading companies around the world, including Teknion®, Siemens, Steelcase, Thomson, Schneider Electric, Dynamobel, Sellex, Gandia Blasco, Haworth, HBF, Metalarte, Offecct, Castelli, Citterio, Lapalma and Schiavello.
Mario has undertaken projects in many different fields including residential and office furniture, lighting, textile design, product design and graphics. Mario’s work has been acknowledged with more than 40 prestigious awards in Europe and the United States. For more than 10 years he has lectured at the Eina and Elisava design schools in Barcelona. In 2003 the first monograph on his work, “Mario Ruiz/Costa Design,” was published by Actar.
Mario’s passion for exploring furniture forms that are influenced both by the culture of his native Spain and the legacy of mid-century American architecture is reflected in his work for the Studio TK™ portfolio, including the line of Bevy tables and the versatile benching system Clique.
